Production Enhancement
AKI GS2 Multi-Touch
Built upon its widely adopted AKI GS2 broadcast graphics engine, Hego has extended the capabilities of this real-time engine to bring a powerful new presentation tool for enhancing live studio productions.
Empowering the presenter
With the growing trend of touchscreen technology usage in many aspects of life, broadcasters have already recognized the great potential for using this new presentation platform in their shows to help their presenters better communicate and connect to their audiences. Whether it is for election coverage, sports analysis, or other information-rich live shows, they all share the same need to interact with a wide variety of information sources and media content to help explain and enhance the given topic of discussion. This has traditionally been controlled by the director and graphics operator in the gallery with the presenters relying upon good timing and directional cues to coordinate and choreograph the presentation. With the introduction of studio touchscreens, much of this power is put firmly in the hands of the presenter. It enables live studio presentations to be made to look much more natural and streamlined, making the productions far more engaging for audiences.
The Hego AKI GS2 Multi-Touch engine easily integrates with all major touch-screen technologies using industry standard touch protocol interfaces. It gives creative designers a free hand to construct interactive solutions with limitless possibilities. Multiple live video streams, real-time 3D graphics, pre-produced video clips, dynamic data-driven content and many other graphical objects can all be implemented within an interactive multi-touch solution. It also allows full flexibility on what screen technology to implement for a project, whether it is for small or large screens, overlay or integrated technology, LCD, Plasma or Back Projection in format.
The system comes complete with an SDK, allowing developers to get up and running quickly and easily implementing bespoke interactive multi-touch graphics solutions. All common multi-touch gestures are supported and can handle an unlimited number of simultaneous touches. Control of window handling, layering and many other rules and behaviours, can all be created within pre-defined frameworks, templates and choreographies, ready for importing media objects into. Developers new to GS2 will find an open structure to the engine which is able to seamlessly import and playback most standard image files, moving graphics, video and other common file formats. Moreover, the whole system works on standardized commodity PC architectures as well as most common hardware acceleration solutions, including frame buffer cards from Matrox, Black Magic Design, NVidia and Bluefish444.
